Independence Day.

Posted by hotpantsstalker89 Jul. 5, 2008 @ 9:57 AM EDT

I wrote this yesterday... I just hadn't taken the time to put it on here until this morning...
The day was quite uneventful, as you will find out if you actually read this.. I doubt anyone really will read it, however.

The 4th of July, 2008. I woke up today in a bed that was not my own, after night of movie watching with a new friend. The movie of choice: The Princess Bride. Great movie. But anyway, I digress...
I woke up several times, paranoid that I was going to lose my phone... I have a tendency to lose it when I am sleeping - it gets buried under pillows, tangled in blankets, wedged between couch cushions, etc.
Finally, around 11:15 a.m., the friend drove he home. I felt bad, because my house is about a 15 to 20 minute drive from where we were, and the vehicle was a gas guzzler. I gave the friend some gas money, and I was home again.
Once home, I noticed that it was just myself and my brothers that were at the house, our father, an over the road truck driver, would not be home for the 4th, and our mother was at work down the street. There was no food in the house for lunch, at least none that we wanted to eat, and the coffee house next door, at which I work, serves white castle burgers, so we went there for lunch..
My best friend was working, and another of my friends was there with him. I had brought my laptop with me, because I intended to stay and chat with people for a while, and needed the computer to occupy my wandering my and random attention. I helped my friend prepare the food for my brothers and myself, and the boys left rather quickly, disinterested in staying after they had finished eating.

Lol, I am sure no one finds the goings on of my 4th of July so far interesting in the least, but I am rather bored because my day has been just that, an extreme bore.

One of my friends asked me what my plans were for the day. I laughed - Plans? Pish-posh. I had no plans. No one in my house drives except for my father, and he is gone. I had no way to get anywhere or do anything. I told her this, and she insisted that we do something tomorrow to make up for my lack of excitement today. She left shortly after with a distant, but cordial, former friend of mine.
I stayed and chatted with my best friend. He had another hour to work - we closed at 2 this afternoon for the holiday instead of 10. We bullshitted for a while, the normal gab that we usually have. That took up most of the hour. We began to pack up our things and were getting ready to leave, as another friend came in to check the coke cooler - for some reason it was producing massive amounts of moisture and condensation and had warped the floor and created a major puddle. I was rather amused by the situation, he looked like a fish flopping around on the floor trying to move the machine back and forth.
My best friend was waiting for his, for lack of a better word, date, and our other friend and I were waiting with him for a bit, until my mother called. She was home from work and wanted me to come home. Even though I just live less then a high school football field away from the coffee house, the other friend offered to give me a ride home. I accepted, since I was carrying my purse and laptop - otherwise I more than likely would have opted for the short walk home. We decided if neither of us had nothing better planned for after he gets back from the fireworks that we would do something. I thanked him for the ride, and went inside, passing my brothers and two of our friends who were on their way out.
Upon entering my house, my mother informed me that the boys were going to burn gas, because the car they were taking had a leak in the gas tank, and it was filled to full so they decided to drive around to burn up the gas rather than to let it all leak out and be wasted.
My mom had mentioned earlier on the phone that she had been in the garden all day the day before and that it was looking really nice, so I suggested we go outside and look at it, spend some mother-daughter bonding time together checking out the vegetables. She seemed really happy that I was interested in something that she likes, and that made my day a little bit better knowing I did something to make someone else happy. The garden looked really good, I love our garden. I really love all the fresh vegetables. My mom and dad are great with the garden, they both really take great care of it and really know what they are doing. But again, I am a bit off topic...
The boys came back at 3 o'clock. My mom had promised that she would buy us all ice cream at the dairy flo down the road. My mom and I walked, the boys drove, so they could continue their "babe watching" after they were finished with the ice cream. We saw some familiar faces and chatted with some of them, passing the time as we ate our ice cream. Once we were finished, my mom and I walked home, and the boys weren't too long after us.
One of the boys went home, but the other stayed at the promise of grilled pork steaks for dinner. My brothers brought the Rock Band downstairs, and we played until dinner was ready. The three boys ate in the kitchen and watched Spongebob Squarepants, and my mother and I ate in the living room and watched Still Standing. Right away after they were finished eating, the boys went to town, they wanted to partake in some of the festivities at the park before the fireworks display later tonight. My mom and I stayed behind. If we decide we want to see the fireworks, we can walk down to the boat launch and look out over the bay and see three different displays at once.
And that is my day. My mom and I decided we are just going to stay in tonight and watch movies, I might go out with my friends later, but I will be home at a reasonable time, I have chores and stuff to do... what an exciting day.

We watched the Princess Bride and I fell asleep at about 10:30, and it turned out that I had to get up and work at 8 this morning. How fun.
